Seth Grahame-Smith offers update on sequel’s progress

The potential for a Beetlejuice 2 is still a going concern, according to screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith.

The Dark Shadows writer confirmed that he is still in talks with the original film’s director Tim Burton and star Michael Keaton, and that both have expressed interest in returning if the script is good enough.

He told Ain’t It Cool News: “They both said the same thing – ‘If you come up with a story that is worthy of us actually doing this for real, something that is not just about cashing in, is not just about forcing a remake or a reboot down someone’s throat then we’ll think about it.”

However, Grahame-Smith, who would also produce the project for Warner Bros, went on to say that he would have minimum expectations to be involved himself. He said: “When Warners started talking about it, I said, ‘There are two things, one it cannot be a remake or a reboot. It has to be a straight pure seque’’. The second thing I said was, ‘No Michael Keaton. no dice’.”

The original Beetlejuice, which co-starred Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, was released in cinemas in 1988.

Who would have thought “Grey’s Anatomy” writers could top the episode where George died after being run over by a bus? Or the episode where a shooter rampaged Seattle Grace Hospital? Well, they topped those episodes. Easily. (Warning: serious spoilers ahead.)

The season eight finale began with several of the doctors dazed, confused, and seriously injured after their plane crashed in the woods. A very pale and gray faced Meredith pulled a large sliver out of her leg before beginning the hunt for her husband Derek, who Cristina (with a serious shoulder injury) said was sucked out of the side of the plane before they landed. Luckily, Derej survived, but his precious surgical hand was crushed after he smashed it with a rock in order to release it from being stuck in the wing of the plane.

Arizona dealt with a serious leg wound, making her incapable of moving, while she comforted the pilot nearby who was stuck in the cockpit and couldn’t feel his legs.

Lexie was trapped and her lower body completely crushed under one of the engines. Mark tried to convince her she would be fine. But he eventually realized the direness of the situation and admitted he still loved her. In a heartbreaking scene he planned their future together – which included marriage and babies.

Lexie didn’t make it, and Mark nearly joined her in the great beyond before Cristina, Derek and Meredith did MacGyver-like surgery to release blood that was building up in his chest.

Back at the hospital, work went on as usual for the rest of the Seattle Grace crew who were completely unaware of the plane crash.  Alex tried to justify why he chose to work at Johns Hopkins instead of staying with pediatrics in Seattle. Callie prepared for Arizona’s return by planning a romantic evening. Miranda fought with her fiance for accepting an internship out of state. April hashed out her mixed feelings about losing her virginity to Jackson. And Owen fired Teddy so she could move on from the death of her husband.

The episode ended with a lot of unanswered questions. Will Derek and Meredith still move to Boston? Will Arizona, who was coughing up blood, be okay? Will Mark be able to move on after Lexie’s death?  Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until the fall to find out.

Juno Temple grew up to live every little boy’s and little girl’s fantasy. Not only did she get to work with Batman in “The Dark Knight Rises,” but it was announced today she’ll be starring alongside Angelina Jolie in Disney’s “Maleficent,” playing a fairy. When she spoke to EW.com, Jolie said that though the story is told from the villain’s perspective in the film, it doesn’t cast a bad light over Aurora. “It’s not anti-princess,” she said. “But it’s the first time they’re looking at this epic woman… I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn’t mean she can’t have other [warmer] qualities.”

She continued, “It sounds really crazy to say that there will be something that’s good for young girls in this, because it sounds like you’re saying they should be a villain. [Maleficent] is actually a great person. But she’s not perfect. She’s far from perfect.”

“Maleficent” is set to hit theaters March 14, 2014 and the movie is said to begin filming this June in London.

“I was just looking at something with her months ago,” the “Wild Ones” singer told MTV News. “Today, when I got a text message [about her death], I thought, ‘Wow, she passed away.’ She definitely is one of those iconic people when it comes down to the dance scene and all that. My condolences go out to all her family. She definitely influenced what I do.”

Speaking to Summer’s genre-bending influence, house-music forefather Frankie Knuckles called her unforgettable hit “I Feel Love” one of the most commercial electronic pieces of music ever written.

“Today you can hear its influence on all popular Dance music, House, Techno, Trance,” he told MTV News in a statement. “She was deemed ‘The Queen Of Disco.’ She’s been sampled and ideas of her songs have crept into today’s popular dance music by everybody. Her association with [legendary record producer] Giorgio Moroder set the tone for what Dance Music is all about.”

“Donna Summer RIP I FEEL LOVE FOR YOU,” Swedish dance-pop princess Robyn tweeted, adding a link to a Summer performance of “I Feel Love.”

The reception of Summer’s iconic 1977 anthem essentially revolutionized music, not to mention the rest of her chart-toppers that would soon follow.

“One day in Berlin, [Brian] Eno came running in and said, ‘I have heard the sound of the future,’ ” David Bowie famously wrote in the liner notes to Sound and Vision. “He puts on ‘I Feel Love,’ by Donna Summer. … He said, ‘This is it, look no further. The band played a three hour set at The O2 in Dublin last night

Guns N’ Roses kicked off their UK and Ireland tour at The O2 in Dublin last night (May 17) with a near three-hour set that did not conclude until just after 1:15am.

Pyrotechnics, six costume changes, a cover of the Pink Panther theme tune and the band’s now traditional late arrival on stage marked the 21-song set that got underway at 10:25pm – nearly an hour and a half after the band’s expected stage time.

Returning to the venue of their now infamous 2010 gig, at which the band were bottled off stage after three songs, Axl Rose ended set-closer ‘Paradise City’ by thanking the Irish crowd for “not throwing shit” at him. The frontman told the crowd:

Thanks for coming out, thanks for putting up with my lame ass and thanks for not throwing shit.

Earlier the singer had acknowledged the leg injury he suffered at a party in Russia last weekend telling his Irish fans: “As you may have heard I had a little accident. I’m learning what I can and can’t do. I hope you don’t mind me moving less than usual,” before quipping “although I’m probably moving a whole lot more than I was the last time I was here.”

Despite his comments, Rose showed little sign of the injury on-stage, moving freely as the band dipped into a set that included their greatest hits, a number of cover versions and songs from their 2008 album ‘Chinese Democracy’.

Arriving on stage to Massive Attack’s Splitting The Atom and a cascade of pyrotechnics, the band opened with ‘Chinese Democracy’ before launching into ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ and ‘It’s So Easy’.

Over the near three-hour set Rose frequently retreated to a tent to the right of the stage – reported to contain an oxygen tank – as his bandmates took turns to take centre stage with solo instrumental cover versions which included The Who’s ‘Baba O’Riley’ and the Pink Panther theme tune.

Rose himself played a brief cover of Pink Floyd’s ‘Another Brick In The Wall’ before ‘November Rain’. The band’s set was largely as predicted by NME yesterday, although it did include ‘Civil War’ from 1991′s ‘Use Your Illusion 2′.

Earlier the Dublin crowd had been warmed up by Thin Lizzy, who took to the stage for a homecoming of sorts and a set of familiar hits including ‘Jailbreak’, ‘Dancing In The Moonlight’ and ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’.
